West Ham transfer stance on Hull City man clarified by report

Talk of a West Ham bid for Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur are ‘wide of the mark’, as per a report by HullLive.

Hull City could face a battle to keep hold of the stopper amid attention from elsewhere. HCAFC have until the deadline on Monday at 7pm to complete any incoming or outgoing bits of business.

Pandur, 25, won their Player of the Season award last term after helping the Tigers stay up in the second tier under former manager Ruben Selles, who is now at Sheffield United. His contract at the MKM Stadium expires in June 2027 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon unless a bid that they can’t refuse comes in for his services.

In this latest update regarding his situation, HullLive have poured cold water on West Ham’s links. However, Middlesbrough are keen.

Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has recently told BBC Humberside Sport: “He’s a very good goalkeeper. Last season he played very well for the club in a not so good season. Player of the Season so we must support him. He has offers. We will see but I think he will stay this season.”

He added: “He wants to stay. We spoke. This is normal, this is the reason why I cannot wait for the transfer period to finish. 1st September, I cannot wait. Last day, some of the players can make transfers. This is the problem for our coaches.”

Hull City latest regarding Ivor Pandur

Hull City signed Pandur back in January 2024. HCAFC snapped him up under ex-head coach Liam Rosenior but he initially struggled for minutes.

He played second fiddle behind Ryan Allsop during his first few months in East Yorkshire. He then became the number one when Allsop left for Birmingham City.

The former Croatia youth international has become a key player for the Tigers. Prior to his transfer, he has had spells in the past at Rijeka, Hellas Verona and Fortuna Sittard and he has adapted well to life in England.

What now for Hull City?

Hull City won’t want to lose Pandur before the end of the window. HCAFC would need to find a replacement if he left.

The Tigers have brought in Dillon Phillips as back-up ahead of the new season. He was a free agent after cutting ties with Rotherham United in League One.

Jakirovic’s side are back in action this weekend. They face an away trip to Ashton Gate to play Bristol City.

They were beaten 3-0 at home by Blackburn Rovers last time out so will want to bounce back. Hull City have four points on the board from their first three fixtures.
