Jamie Reuben has sent a transfer message to Newcastle United fans ahead of striker Nick Woltemade’s medical on Tyneside.
While the Champions League draw was happening, the Magpies managed to get a deal agreed with VfB Stuttgart for highly-rated striker Nick Woltemade.
The 23-year-old travelled to Tyneside on Thursday evening for his medical with Newcastle United ahead of a club record move. With Alexander Isak still refusing to change his transfer stance, it was clear that a new quality striker was needed.
After missing out on the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Joao Pedro, Newcastle have now settled on Woltemade, who appears very willing to join.
With a club-record fee on the cards for Woltemade, Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben has sent a very positive message to the fans in his latest interview.

Jamie Reuben promises new signings for Newcastle United before transfer deadline
Reuben has been fantastic this summer, helping Eddie Howe’s recruitment team in negotiations for players throughout the transfer window.
It was reported that Reuben held talks with RB Leipzig for Sesko. While the deal did not go through in the end, the feeling was that the striker wanted to join Newcastle after talking to the Magpies’ board member.
Woltemade will be Newcastle’s fifth signing of the summer, and they may not be done yet. That is according to Reuben, who suggested more deals could be on the way.

“We have worked hard all summer to make sure that the team is in the best possible condition to compete at the highest levels of football. That’s what we always want.
“We’ve worked very hard and we will continue to work very hard up to the last second to make sure the team is in tip-top shape before the campaign ahead.”

While Reuben’s message is exciting, it remains to be seen whether he is alluding to Woltemade’s impending arrival or another deal which could be on the horizon.
How much Newcastle United will be paying for Nick Woltemade
Newcastle are trying to register Woltemade in time for their visit to Leeds United on Saturday. Anthony Gordon was sent off against Liverpool on Monday, so William Osula is the only senior option up front for Howe to choose from.
The deal for Woltemade will be a club record, but there were initially mixed signals on how much they would actually be paying. However, Keith Downie has now confirmed how much the transfer will set Newcastle back.
Newcastle’s deal for Woltemade will be a total of £69m – £65m up-front with £4m in add-ons. The deadline for player registration is 12pm on the working day before the game, so in this case, it is 12pm on Friday, 29 August.
The Magpies had a similar issue with Jacob Ramsey before he was signed. There was hope he would be registered before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa, but they could not get it done.
