Peter Crouch says Liverpool have a £34m player who’s even better than Dennis Bergkamp

Peter Crouch has been ranking and rating some of the best attackers in Premier League history.

Indeed, speaking to The Mail, Peter Crouch has been putting together something of a tier list of some of the best attackers English football has ever seen.

Inevitably, Crouch picked Thierry Henry as his top Premier League attacker of all-time.

Henry was an all-time great at Arsenal, and he certainly is in the conversation as the greatest Premier League player ever.

During this process, Peter Crouch made another interesting claim about a current Premier League star, Mohamed Salah.

Salah has been in Ballon d’Or winning form as of late, and when Crouch placed him in the pantheon of Premier League greats, he put him ahead of some high profile names.

Peter Crouch ranks Mohamed Salah above Dennis Bergkamp

Crouch ranked some of the best forwards the Premier League has ever seen.

The pundit put Salah in the ‘great’ section ahead of some incredible names who only made it in the good section.

The £34m man was ranked ahead of some brilliant players here, but perhaps the most notable of the bunch is Dennis Bergkamp.

Bergkamp was a one-of-a-kind talent at Arsenal, but when you look at the numbers, it’s easy to see why Salah has been picked ahead of the Dutchman.

Mohamed Salah compared to Dennis Bergkamp

As amazing as Bergkamp was for Arsenal, Salah has just been on a different level for Liverpool.

Salah has scored more goals at a faster rate for the Reds, all while achieving a very similar level of success.

Player PL Appearances PL Goals PL Assists Premier League Golden Boots PFA Players’ Player of the Year FWA Footballer of the Year Premier League Titles

Mohamed Salah 303 187 88 4 3 3 2

Dennis Bergkamp 315 87 94 0 1 (1997–98) 1 3

Of course, there was more to Bergkamp’s game than just goals and assists, but when you have an output machine like Salah as your comparison point, it’s hard to overlook the numbers.

Both players are all-time Premier League greats, but, at this point, there is an argument to make that Salah is the better of the pair.
