Leeds United transfer blow – Premier League midfielder exit cancelled

Leeds United are in the market for players before the end of the summer transfer window on Monday night. The club are keen to add more quality to their squad as they hope to have a team that can stay in the Premier League by the time the window closes.

The 5-0 defeat at Arsenal was a reality check for Leeds, but the defeat to a second-string Sheffield Wednesday side in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night raised serious question marks about the overall quality of the squad. The club hope to add more quality to the mixture of players in the next few days.

Leeds are in advanced negotiations with Brighton for the signature of attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte, who is set to travel to Yorkshire later today to undergo a medical and finalise his loan move to Elland Road.

The Whites are also said to be worried about their midfield options because of the injuries to Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu, and there are suggestions that they could try to sign one more midfielder on loan before the end of the transfer window.

Leeds United are unlikely to sign Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo’s future has come under the scanner late in the transfer window. He didn’t feature in their first two Premier League games but did play the full 90 minutes in their awful defeat at Grimsby on Wednesday night.

Leeds are exploring an ambitious move to sign the midfielder on loan for the rest of the season, and Mainoo is also keen to leave Old Trafford.

He informed Manchester United of his interest in a loan move to gain more game time this season, but it is unlikely to happen.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Manchester United have told the club that he won’t be loaned out this late window and the midfielder is still valued at Old Trafford.

🚨 Manchester United have rejected Kobbie Mainoo’s request to go out loan. Mainoo has been informed no loan is possible, and that he remains valued at the club.

The Premier League giants want to keep the 20-year-old while continuing to negotiate a new contract with his representatives.

Saudi outfit Al-Nassr have enquired about signing Mainoo on loan, and several other European clubs will continue to monitor his situation until the final hours of the transfer window.

Leeds will likely sign one more player

Farke is keen to sign two more attackers before the transfer window closes on Monday night, but the reality is likely to be different.

Buonanotte, who had several other clubs chasing him, will arrive at Leeds today to complete the move, and he is set to be the last signing of the summer.

Signing one more player after the Argentinian will need Leeds to sell a player late in the window to fund the move.

The Leeds manager has already ruled out any more outgoings, so it seems unlikely the German will get that one extra attacking signing after Buonanotte.
