Manchester United reach ‘verbal agreement’ for transfer – Medical in coming hours to seal exit

Napoli are in the process of the finalising the operation for Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund this summer.

On Thursday, we covered claims from Italy that yesterday can be key for the Naples club to find an agreement with the Red Devils for a loan deal with a conditional obligation.

Manchester United wanted it to be linked to the Champions League qualification. Napoli have accepted it as Gianluca Di Marzio reports they have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Ruben Amorim’s side.

The striker’s agent was in Italy yesterday to sort out details. If there’s a total agreement, Di Marzio says he’s expected to travel to Italy on Friday.

Il Mattino are also confident this move will go through as they say Højlund is now a Napoli player.

The two clubs reached an agreement on Thursday. Manchester United want the Serie A winners to make the Denmark international’s loan stay permanent if they qualify for the Champions League.

This condition was accepted yesterday by Napoli, who will initially pay a loan fee of €5m. They will also be paying €4.5m to the frontman. Il Mattino states: ‘The end of the deal was greeted with joy by all parties last night.’

Il Mattino reports Højlund is expected to arrive in Italy in the ‘coming hours’ to finalise the deal and to undergo medical tests with Napoli. Their plan is for him to be at least in the stands when Antonio Conte’s side host Cagliari on Saturday.
