Late last night, Juventus director Damien Comolli confirmed Nottingham Forest are set to sign defender Nicolo Savona.
The versatile full-back is set to join the Tricky Trees on a permanent deal worth €15m including bonuses and this happened after the Old Lady rejected an initial offer for the Italian.
A compromise has been reached between the two clubs and Sky Italia caught up with the 22-year-old today when he was departing for England from the airport in Milan.
He told reporters, relayed by Luca Bendoni, describing his sadness at leaving the Bianconeri: “ I am ready and happy. I am also sorry to leave Juventus after so many years.
“I thank the club, the staff, the teammates and the fans. But I am ready for the Premier League”
The move to Nottingham Forest comes after Savona was linked with a host of other Premier League sides as well.
This transfer hands Juve a major capital profit as the defender is a product of the club’s youth academy and his departure will hand Igor Tudor’s side some extra financial wiggle room to sign players.
It is a smart move for Nottingham Forest, who bring in a reliable and versatile player for the backline and Savona also has age on his side.
The Italian is currently nursing an injury but reports in Italy have suggested that he could be back fit in a week’s time.
