Newcastle United are set to sign Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart, a deal which has caught the attention of football legend Toni Kroos.
The developments came in thick and fast on Friday evening, and thankfully, they have had it all go in their favour.
Nick Woltemade is soon to become a Newcastle United player after a £69m deal was agreed with VfB Stuttgart on Thursday evening. Videos have shown that Woltemade is now on Tyneside in preparation for his medical on Friday morning.
The hope is that Woltemade can play against Leeds United on Saturday, but the Magpies are up against the clock to get the deal done.
Woltemade will become the second German player to join Newcastle this summer, and just the sixth in their history. He follows Malick Thiaw through the door this summer, and while Newcastle fans are very excited to welcome a quality new striker, former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has reacted to the deal.

Toni Kroos responds after Newcastle United agree Nick Woltemade deal
Jamie Reuben sent a transfer message to Newcastle fans while donning a big smile on his face. He would have been aware at that point that the Woltemade deal was close to completion.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle sign another player before the transfer window closes, but Geordie Boot Boys understand that Eddie Howe wants another striker to play alongside Woltemade.
The 23-year-old joins after a great season in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals in 28 appearances, sparking a lot of hype around his arrival on Tyneside.

Now, Kroos has responded to the deal.
“This can’t all be a coincidence,” he said, responding to comments about Woltemade and Thiaw joining soon after he confessed his admiration for the Magpies and desire to buy a membership with the club.
Newcastle have been given some very exciting Champions League draws, including a game against Bayer Leverkusen. Perhaps Kroos will make his way to the BayArena or even St James’ Park this season.
What Toni Kroos said about Newcastle United this summer
With injury worries for Joelinton and Sandro Tonali, Newcastle could do with a quality midfielder like Kroos for the next few weeks.
The pair went off during Newcastle’s defeat against Liverpool, but there has been no word on whether they will be fit enough to play against Leeds on Saturday.
Kroos could watch the Magpies from afar this summer, as he made a surprise admission about his admiration for the club on their podcast.
“Yes, I’ll do it (order a Newcastle membership). Fine, I’d do it. Do I have to show up next week? I will order the jersey of, who’s the big one at the back? The one at the front for everyone. Dan Burn. He’s 33, I think and, if I’m not mistaken, an England international. I think Tuchel made him an international. Could you please order his shirt and post it next week?
“I was 1000 per cent taken aback by what they did yesterday (against Liverpool). I know Newcastle obviously has a lot of tradition, but that they’re also a club that’s somehow in Saudi Arabian hands.
“I don’t care about any of that. Yesterday was purely about the mentality. I have to say, sad is a big word, but I was disappointed for Newcastle that the goal (from Liverpool) was scored in the end.”
