Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic wants to sign a left winger before the transfer window closes on Monday night as cover for the imminent return of Liam Millar and young starlet Joel Ndala.
Jakirovic met owner Acun Ilicali on Saturday after the 3-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, to tell the Turkish businessman that he still wanted a midfielder and winger before the 7pm deadline.
The Croatian boss wanted to bring in an extra player given the fact that both Millar and Mohamed Belloumi are coming back from long-term knee injuries, while Joel Ndala is still finding his way following his move from Manchester City, and David Akintola is getting to grips with life in England after jetting in from the Turkish Super Lig.
Belloumi made his return off the bench in the final 10 minutes against Rovers, while Millar is expected back in training next week with a view to him returning to Championship action after the international break.
Despite Jakirovic wanting cover on the flanks, especially after seeing Abu Kamara move on, it's understood it's unlikely that City will bring in a fresh face in that area before Monday night's deadline.
Jakirovic has been given his wish in the middle of the park with Besiktas' out-of-favour midfielder Amir Hadziahmetovic, who will arrive to provide welcome competition, especially with Matt Crooks sidelined with an ankle injury.
Hadziahmetovic trained with the City squad on Thursday as he awaits the green light, though at the time of writing, that deal has not yet gone through and faces a race against time to be completed in time for him to feature at Bristol City on Saturday.
City are keeping their options open elsewhere, and are considering what, if anything, can be done with their squad before the deadline. In order for them to bring somebody in, they would need to move out a high earner, which cannot be ruled out. Any arrivals will be entirely dependent on players leaving.
The Tigers were considering loaning out James Furlong after he recovered from an injury which has kept him sidelined through injury, but he's now picked up another problem which may well keep him sidelined and prevent a move away.

Furlong spent the second half of last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, though he missed their promotion party at Wembley with injury, and the Republic of Ireland defender has suffered yet another disappointing setback.
City hope to keep both Charlie Hughes and Ivor Pandur, too. The Sky Blues' latest offer has been rebuffed by the Tigers while Middlesbrough's long-term interest in the Croatian is expected the Teesside outfit to lodge a formal bid.
