Special One Sacked : Mourinho’s words point at Premier League return | West Ham News

[West Ham’s](https://www.claretandhugh.info/potters-parking-the-bus-has-a-familiar-ring-for-west-ham/) beleaguered manager Graham Potter’s troubles just took a turn for the worse. Another candidate for replacing him just took a big leap forward in the ‘plausibility’ stakes.

Two games into the season and ‘special one’ Jose Mourinho has achieved what seemingly he’s been seeking: Turkish side Fenerbahce have fired the former’ special one’ according to reports just out this morning. Following on from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being fired by Besiktas yesterday, clearly the Turkish leagues show a level of ruthlessness which perhaps can serve as an example to David ‘j_ust one more_ **must-win game**‘ Sullivan.

Jose Mourino has long since professed a desire to return to the Premier League, many attributing his posturing and unpopular pronouncements on Turkish football as being part of his goading the Fenerbahce owners to send him on his way. He has his wish now but for footballing reasons as his side failed to qualify for the champions league.

Remember the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs’ manager’s [prophetic words:](https://www.planetfootball.com/premier-league/jose-mourinho-next-job-potential-destinations) _(planet football.com)_

“_The best thing I have to do is when I leave Fener is that I go to a club that doesn’t play in UEFA competition,” Mourinho told reporters after being shown a red card in a Europa League outing last October._ _“So a club at the bottom in England who needs a coach in two years, I’m ready to go.”_

Nobody’s perfect and many would argue that Mourinho’s magic fairy dust has long since vanished. However for one who didn’t even appear on the list of possible Graham Potter replacements 24 hours ago. I’d expect that will change. He still owns a house in London and would now satisfy David Sullivan’s pre-requisite of being available without a fee.

And compared with some of the ‘runners and riders’ listed, most West Ham fans would welcome a couple of years of Mourinho-orchestrated entertainment off the pitch along with some common sense on it: Few could argue that it’d be a backward step from the predicament in which Potter has placed them.

With Mourinho’s shadow now looming over Graham Potter, the fixture against Nottingham Forest assumes ever more important proportions.
