Ja'Quinden Jackson highlights a Jaguars practice squad full of talent and upside

The Jacksonville Jaguars underwent a roster overhaul in the offseason but brougth in so many players that they weren't going to be able to keep everyone come cutdown day.

The silver lining is that the Jags were able to bring back many of the players they released for the practice squad. And one group at the look shows that they managed to put together a promising mix of youth and upside.

The Jaguars announce their 16-man practice squad

The Jaguars revealed most of their practice squad one day after the cutdown deadline. Here's how it looked:

Jerome Carvin, OL

Chandler Brayboy, WR

Branson Combs, LB

Patrick Herbert, TE

Seth Henigan, QB

Ja'Quinden Jackson, RB

Keni-H Lovely, CB

Quintin Morris, TE

Jabbar Muhammad, DB

Ricky Lee, OL

Keivie Rose, DL

Dorian Singer, WR

Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig

Sal Wormley, OL

The day after, Jacksonville announced that it had added defensive lineman Matt Dickerson and receiver Erik Ezukanma to the practice squad.

And that makes it 16 players. The Jaguars can promote each one of them up to two times a season for a game. After that, they'll have to sign them to the active roster if they want them to suit up.

The Jaguars have intriguing talent in Ja'Quinden Jackson, Keni-H Lovely, and Cam Silmon-Craig

The Jaguars have a well-rounded group of running backs in Travis Etienne, Tank Bigsby, LeQuint Allen, and Bayshul Tuten. It wasn't feasible to allocate five roster spots to the position, so rookie Ja'Quinden Jackson was simply the victim of the numbers game.

Jackson shined throughout training camp, and could get promoted for game day if the Jags suffer an injury at running back. Similarly, he could be signed to the active roster if Travis Etienne lands on the trade block, which is a possibility.

On the other hand, Keni-H Lovely showed playmaking skills in the preseason, logging one interception against the Saints. Jacksonville has plenty of talent, but its depth is a bit suspect, so don't be surprised if he's called a couple times in 2025.

The Jaguars also kept undrafted quarterback Seth Henigan. They showed he was a developmental prospect worth keeping around when they released veteran John Wolford.

And last but not least is Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig, who was teammates with Travis Hunter and Colorado. The former Buffalo managed to make an impression in training camp and will now have a chance to hone his skills in the practice squad.

Ultimately, all these players landed on the practice squad for a reason, but don't be surprised if they compete for a roster spot in 2026.
