Manchester City have been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo in recent weeks, and the winger has just dropped a big hint about his future.
This summer has been a tough one for the 24-year-old ever since the arrival of Xabi Alonso at the Bernabeu, as the Spanish coach barely played the Brazilian at the FIFA Club World Cup, which was followed by receiving zero minutes in Real Madrid’s opening La Liga match of the season.
With Tottenham being very keen to sign Savinho, Guardiola has Rodrygo down as his top target to replace the winger, should the 21-year-old depart for North London.
Fabrizio Romano said this week that Rodrygo is more likely to go to Man City than Arsenal before the summer transfer window shuts, and the Real Madrid star has now dropped a huge hint regarding his future.

Rodrygo confirms Real Madrid stay with social media post
Alonso offered Rodrygo an olive branch last weekend as the Brazilian started against Real Oviedo, but was taken off midway through the second half.
The 24-year-old is still not a big part of the plans at Real Madrid for the 2025/26 campaign, but the Brazilian is happy in the Spanish capital and knows his situation could change quickly with some good performances or injuries.

Thursday confirmed the opponents Real Madrid will face throughout the league phase of the Champions League, and reacting to the draw, Rodrygo all but confirmed he is staying in Spain this season.
“A por la 16!” the winger wrote above a graphic of Real Madrid’s Champions League opponents, which translates to English as “let’s go for the 16th”.
That followed a post of some training pictures earlier in the day, which had the caption “we continue” attached to it.
It is clear that Rodrygo has his heart set on staying at Real Madrid, which rules out any potential move to Man City.
Rodrygo could replace a different Man City star next summer
If it becomes clear to Rodrygo throughout the 2025/26 season that he is not going to have a big role at Real Madrid while Alonso is there, the winger may be more open to a move next summer, which will also be cheaper for his pursuers.
Guardiola loves Rodrygo and even called the player this summer to understand his situation in Madrid, which shows that the legendary coach will not lose interest in the Brazilian over the next 12 months.

However, instead of replacing Savinho at the Etihad Stadium, the 24-year-old could replace Jeremy Doku, with this season being crucial to the Belgian proving himself in the Premier League, having underwhelmed over the previous two campaigns.
If the winger does not produce what is required over the coming months, Man City might look to move the 23-year-old on next summer, which would leave space for Rodrygo on his preferred left side.
