Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano.
The North London side are nearing an agreement for the ‘elite’ Ecuadorian centre-back’s arrival before Monday’s transfer deadline, with Hincapie set to join on loan with an obligation to buy.
Romano claims details of the fee structure are being finalised ahead of the 23-year-old’s move, after Hincapie indicated a preference to join Arsenal over their North London rivals Tottenham.
The Leverkusen defender is set to become Arsenal’s eighth signing of a busy summer, following the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners are set to bring in Hincapie as a replacement for Jakub Kiwior, who is close to signing for two-time Champions League winners Porto on loan with an obligation to buy.
