After a months-long saga between owner Jerry Jones and superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons, the news that Dallas Cowboys fans were dreading has finally broken. Parsons is being traded to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
While Clark is a fine player, he is far from even a consolation prize for the Cowboys. Dallas just gave away a once-in-a-generation player for a measly two first-rounders and a player who will be 30 years old soon and recorded just 1.0 sack last year.
Dallas' defense already had a handful of question marks, but now there is a gaping hole on the edge where Parsons once dominated for the first four years of his NFL career. There is no other way to slice it than to call this bad business for Jones and the Cowboys.

While it will certainly be difficult for Cowboys fans to watch their favorite team play without a transformational player on the edge, it will be even harder for Parsons' now-former teammates to adjust to playing without him.
Star cornerback Trevon Diggs posted his devastating reaction to the news on social media. While it was just one emoji, a broken heart, it truly said everything that it needed to, and it surely resonated throughout the fan base and locker room.

Diggs joined the Cowboys just one year before Parsons did, meaning the two have spent the last four campaigns together, anchoring Dallas' defense. The two both landed on the All-Pro First-Team together in 2021, and they made back-to-back Pro Bowl trips together as well in 2021 and 2022.

Without a do-it-all player on the Cowboys' defensive line, life just got a lot harder for Diggs and the back half of the defense in Dallas. Opposing offenses no longer have to gameplan so ferociously for the star; they can pick and choose where to attack without the threat of Parsons closing in.
Parsons has missed just five games in his NFL career, and the Cowboys went 2-3 without him. They also gave up 26 points or more in four of those five contests.
Surely, this won't be the last Cowboys player to have this kind of reaction to the news about Parsons being traded. Hopefully, the team can rally together and find some way to salvage this season despite the constant turmoil surrounding the franchise.
