A day after finalizing their initial 53-man roster for the upcoming 2025 season, one that obviously won't look the same as the one they'll have when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles next Thursday night (it's already changed, by the way), the Dallas Cowboys got to work on Wednesday filling out their initial practice squad.
Every NFL team is allowed to have 16 players on the practice squad, 17 if the extra player qualifies for the International Pathway Program exemption, which America's Team used a season ago on Denzel Daxon. The Bahamian defensive tackle was with the Cowboys for the duration of this year's training camp, but after being waived on August 25, he is currently not among those Dallas has signed.

As of this writing, the Cowboys have officially filled 15 of the 16 slots for the 2025 practice squad, who are as follows:
Jalen Brooks, WR
Traeshon Holden, WR
Earnest Brown IV, DT
Saahdiq Charles, OL
Geron Christian, OT
Alijah Clark, S
Jalen Cropper, WR
Malik Davis, RB
Rivaldo Fairweather, TE
Princeton Fant, TE
Will Grier, QB
Robert Rochell, CB
Kemon Hall, CB
Justin Barron, LB
Buddy Johnson, LB
Per the team's official website, there is an "expectation that veteran defensive back C.J. Goodwin will re-sign at some point this week, and to the practice squad," which would obviously make 16.
Unsurprisingly, the Cowboys brought back veteran quarterback Will Grier, who was released on Tuesday but was re-signed to be the team's third signal-caller behind Dak Prescott and Joe Milton.
The name Dallas fans seem to be most excited about on this list is undrafted rookie wideout Traeshon Holden, who quickly endeared himself to the Cowboys' faithful with a fantastic training camp. His inexperience on special teams is likely what got him cut, but spending these next few months on the practice squad will undoubtedly do him some good. Holden was one of three wideouts signed, the others being Jalen Brooks and Jalen Cropper.
Defensive tackle Earnest Brown IV is one of the more notable defensive players on the list and could very well be elevated early, given how thin Dallas is at the position right now. Undrafted rookie linebacker Justin Barron and his former Syracuse teammate, safety Alijah Clark, who also went unselected this past April, are interesting additions as well.
