Nottingham Forest defender David Carmo has joined Real Oviedo on loan.
The centre-back will spend the season with the Spanish side. Oviedo have the option to make the deal a permanent one at the end of the season.
Forest said in a statement: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that David Carmo has joined Real Oviedo. The defender has joined Oviedo on loan for the 2025/26 season, with the Spanish side also holding the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.
“Carmo joined Forest from FC Porto last August and was immediately loaned to Olympiacos FC, going on to make 35 appearances last season. The 26-year-old is now set for a new chapter in Spain, with Real Oviedo currently sat 19th in La Liga. Everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes David the best for the season ahead.”
The Reds are expected to sanction several departures in the final days of the transfer window as they continue to reshuffle Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. Moving on fringe players has been a key focus at the City Ground this summer but the club still have some work to do on that front.
Centre-back is an area where head coach Nuno is currently well stocked, leaving Carmo down the pecking order Trentside. Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic have established themselves as Nuno’s first-choice pairing in the heart of the Reds defence.

The Forest boss does have several back-up options, as well as the ability to play with three at the back. Morato and Willy Boly remain on the club’s books, although the former has also been linked with a move away ahead of deadline day. Additionally, the Reds brought in youngster Jair Cunha early on in the window.
Such is the strength in depth Nuno has, Jair was not even on the bench for last Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Carmo has not been involved in either of Forest’s first two games of the campaign and is yet to make a single competitive appearance for the club.
Last week, Carmo was linked with Sevilla amid suggestions of a potential swap deal. The Reds have had full-back Jose Angel Carmona on their radar, and it was reported the two players could end up switching clubs.
Forest have made eight signings so far this summer and are set to make Nicolo Savona their ninth addition. Further incomings, as well as outgoings, are expected at the City Ground before the window closes at 7pm on Monday.
Nuno has already namechecked Omar Richards and Eric da Silva Moreira as two players who could leave. Jota Silva, Emmanuel Dennis and Josh Bowler could also head elsewhere.
