Exclusive: Crystal Palace make contact to sign £10m Premier League player after Bilal El Khannouss setback

TBR Football can confirm that Crystal Palace have made an approach to sign David Brooks from Bournemouth.

Crystal Palace were pursuing Bilal El Khannouss and a £32m fee had been agreed, but we understand the Foxes feel they could receive more from the Saudi Pro League, and are pushing the Moroccan towards Saudi Arabia instead.

The Leicester No.11 – however – prefers to stay in the Premier League and would like to join the Eagles.

As the Bilal El Khannouss saga hits an uncertain point, Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been told that Crystal Palace have enquired about David Brooks.

Exclusive: Crystal Palace make move for David Brooks

We understand Crystal Palace have lodged an enquiry about the Wales international after Leicester caused a hiccup in talks over El Khannouss – who Tottenham also like.

Sources confirm to TBR Football that Fulham and Brentford have also asked about Brooks, who only has one year remaining on his contract at Bournemouth.

The Cherries are eager to extend the 28-year-old’s contract.

Brooks joined Bournemouth in a £10m move from Sheffield United back in July 2018 – since racking up 150 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 18 assists.

Crystal Palace set to sign Yeremy Pino

Regardless of what happens with Brooks, Crystal Palace are set to sign a new attacking midfielder anyway in the form of Yeremy Pino.

TBR Football understand Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with Villarreal which could surpass £40m if bonus payments are triggered, but the initial sum is believed to be around £20m.

The Spain international is undergoing a medical, but would need to be announced before 12pm today (Friday 29th August) to be able to take part against Aston Villa on Sunday.

It is believed that either Brooks – or even El Khannouss – could still follow Pino to Selhurst Park, with Crystal Palace open to signing two new creators after losing Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.
