David Moyes shares the one thing that could see Harrison Armstrong stay at Everton

Harrison Armstrong has a bright long-term future at Everton, but David Moyes is considering his short-term future for the time being.

The 18-year-old is looking like the gem at the club, as the midfielder has proven his worth every time he’s donned the Royal Blue of Everton.

Two assists against Mansfield in the EFL Cup on Wednesday added to his chances of being integrated into the squad this season.

However, Moyes could loan Armstrong out, which might bring concern from the fanbase after his promise.

The youngster already experienced time on loan at Derby County last campaign, but the Toffees boss has hinted at one thing that means he could have his chance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season.

David Moyes says Harrison Armstrong might stay at Everton due to AFCON

Armstrong’s ceiling is very high on Merseyside, and Moyes himself knows he’ll have to nurture the prospect properly.

Moyes is debating a decision on Armstrong, but with very few days left of the window, a verdict has to be made soon.

But speaking ahead of Wolves in a pre-match press conference, the Scotsman has said the one way the 18-year-old could remain at the club beyond the 1st September.

“A loan is there if we want it for him,” Moyes said.

“He’s shown he’s got the potential to be a future Everton player.

“Have to remember we’ve got AFCON, so we have to keep that in our thought process.

“So from that point of view, we’re looking at Harrison to say, do we give him so more game time now?”

It’s a difficult choice to make for the Blues manager who will know a loan could do him the world of good.

But on the other hand, time in the Premier League could help his development and be ready for a major role when AFCON comes around in the winter.

Everton will be without three players at AFCON currently

With a message being sent to Armstrong that there is a consideration for him to stay, these three players could open the door for him to progress.

Obviously, the competition in Africa is still four months away, starting on 21st December, but the Toffees will be losing some key players.

Beto’s Guinea-Bissau didn’t qualify, so he will remain at the club, but the chance for Armstrong to shine comes with Idrissa Gana Gueye’s absence.

Although it doesn’t seem like the youngster is next in line with James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam also around, Moyes will have to consider any injuries that occur, and not giving the time for Armstrong to develop in the Premier League could be a mistake.

Fans think Armstrong has the promise of ‘Jude Bellingham’, and the Everton boss might not be able to pass up on the opportunity of giving the starlet a chance.
