‘I would completely disagree’: David Moyes can’t believe what a reporter said to him about…

Ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Wolves, Everton boss David Moyes was asked about his expectations for the trip to Molineux.

After a disappointing opening day loss to Leeds United, David Moyes and his Everton side got an impressive win over Brighton in their first home game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Wolves go into this game on zero points from the opening two games, desperate to get a result and quell the relegation chatter that has persisted throughout August.

Moyes was asked about his expectations for the Wolves game, and he didn’t hold back.

David Moyes not having any of the Wolves slander

One reporter in attendance framed his question about Wolves in a way the Scot didn’t appreciate. The focus was on Wolves’ winless start and how it plays into the Everton manager’s outlook on the fixture.

Moyes was quick to respond, saying: “You’re making it sound as if Wolves aren’t a good side, by what you’re saying, and I would completely disagree with that.

“I think Wolves have got a very good side and the manager’s doing a very good job and they’re developing as a team.”

He made it clear he wouldn’t be fooled by Wolves’ shaky start, well aware of the quality in Vitor Pereira’s side, continuing: “They’ve got some very good players, so I’d go against what your question was, but look, we go to Wolves knowing that we have a difficult game and we’re going to have to play very well to get a result.”

Nice to hear a less alarmist take on the current state of the team.

Wolves will have to be wary of this new-look Everton side

If you couldn’t see the kit and badge, you wouldn’t know you’re watching Everton with how they are playing this season. The defensive solidity is much the same, but the attacking approach has changed dramatically.

The signings of Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have aided in bringing more creativity and technical ability into the team.

Alongside tricky wide player Iliman Ndiaye, the attack Moyes is fielding looks very different from the brutish lineup of last season.

Wolves need to recognise the increased danger posed by Everton going forward and make sure not to fall behind early, as they did against Bournemouth.
