With the relationship between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys deteriorating all offseason, insiders have been trying to warn everyone that things were headed towards a divorce. Still, not many people believed Dallas would actually trade one of the league’s best players at his peak, with many promising years ahead of him. But it happened, and the move was so surprising that even people close to the Cowboys were caught off guard.
That was evident with Michael Irvin, who just dropped a first-ballot Hall of Fame freezing cold take. The legendary receiver appeared on Thursday’s episode of ESPN’s NFL Live, and was asked about reports that Dallas was listening to trade offers for Parsons. Irvin was adamant that this was all apart of negotiations.
The Hall of Fame receiver guaranteed that Parsons isn’t going anywhere, before emphasizing that Jerry Jones isn’t that crazy. Literally minutes later, Jones showed him that he is, in fact, crazy, as news broke that Parsons was headed to Green Bay.

Irvin has a great relationship with Jones, spanning decades since he starred for the Cowboys in the 90s. In the past few weeks, the former receiver has spent a ton of time with the team owner while promoting the new Netflix docuseries on the Cowboys. Irvin even sat down with Jones for an interview, where the two talked about the ongoing saga with Parsons.
Because of all of that, many people were willing to take Michael Irvin at his word when he said this was just the latest negotiating tactic. Unfortunately for him, the Cowboys quickly made him a liar. This could mean Jones was just keeping everything close to the chest, or it could mean he just went rogue and traded away the team’s best player.
Either way, Micah Parsons is no longer a Cowboy, and just about everyone is struggling to believe that reality.
