Tottenham have now opened talks to sign Man City star Manuel Akanji alongside Savinho, according to GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano.
Thomas Frank has been keen to add to his squad this summer after their excellent start to the season with wins over Burnley and Manchester City without conceding a goal, with new signings Mohammed Kudus and Joaoa Palhinha beginning their careers at the club in fine form.
But while the club have also completed a move to sign Xavi Simons in attack and are pursuing a move to sign Savinho for their winger options, they are now in talks to add a new central defender to the side.
Tottenham Open Talks for Akanji

Akanji, who currently earns around £180,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium, has dropped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola this season with John Stones, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov all ahead of him.
That has seen suggestions that the Switzerland international could move on before Monday's deadline, and now Spurs have opened talks with City over a £15m deal.
Romano, writing on his X account, says that the 30-year-old is one of three names on the centre back shortlist in north London ahead of the transfer window closing. AC Milan are also in talks with Man City and Akanji over taking him to Serie A, but are yet to find an agreement with either party.
Spurs' approach comes after talks with City to sign Akanji's Brazilian teammate Savinho for the winger position, with a mega bid already rejected. City plan to keep Savinho for the season at least, but Spurs haven't given up on the chase and Romano has also revealed that Savinho wants to move to play more regularly ahead of the World Cup.
Frank has also got an interest in Brentford star Nathan Collins, but the Bees aren't looking to sell.
