Newcastle United’s move for Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemate could impact Alexander Isak and Liverpool.
It comes after the Liverpool boss was asked about the implications it could have on Alexander Isak’s switch to Anfield.
Woltemade arrived on Tyneside on Thursday night and is currently undergoing his medical after a £69million deal was reached with Bundesliga side Stuttgart.
The Reds are now said to be considering a second bid for Isak, after an opening bid of £110m was rejected on August 1. The Magpies would like to sign two strikers before sanctioning Isak’s exit but his conduct has complicated matters.
The Swede has been on strike at Newcastle for the past month and despite efforts to reintegrate him into the squad, he has continued to train alone at the club’s Benton training centre.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot comments on Nick Woltemade’s imminent move to Newcastle United
Asked about Woltemade’s move to Newcastle and what it could mean for Liverpool and Isak, Slot quipped: "Newcastle have signed - if it's true - a new No.9, so that's very nice for Eddie because Anthony Gordon is suspended and Isak has not been training with the team a lot. So it's nice for them to have another number nine."
The Dutchman then went on to admit that the Reds remain active in the summer transfer window with three days remaining.
"After Monday evening, I said that again I could make a substitution that impacted the game,” Slot said. “That's what Federico (Chiesa) did against Bournemouth and Rio (Ngumoha) did against Newcastle.

"There's only three-four days to go now, so let's see if we do something and if we do something, what we can do."
Newcastle United stance on Alexander Isak’s future amid Nick Woltemade move
Howe refused to confirm whether will leave before Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline.
“Difficult for me to give you any clarity on the future,” Howe said when about Isak’s future. “I've said before, I don't know what the future holds in that respect because I'm not dealing with it myself. I've got no update from what I spoke about the other day. I'm concentrating on trying to bring players to the club.
He added: “Of course, I would have a preference [on whether he stays or goes]. But ultimately, you've got to look at all the information. Of course, I have a footballing preference, but then you've got to take everything else into account. You can't just be oblivious to things that have happened.
“I'm in that position where I'm trying to separate myself from it because, as I've said so many times, I have no control over it. So I'll let everything take its course and then deal with the eventuality.”
