Newcastle United are about to sign Nick Woltemade and still want a second striker – but we may be in the market for more than just that ahead of Monday’s 7pm deadline.
Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi was linked earlier this month and he’s back in the headlines today, this time via Sky Italy’s [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato-newcastle-frattesi-inter-29-agosto-2025-news/).
He reports that Newcastle have returned to the table for the Italian international, with talks talking place over a potential move to St James’ Park.
Di Marzio claims that Newcastle are ‘serious’ about signing the 25-year-old and have launched a loan bid that includes an obligation to buy, although the terms of this are ‘not guaranteed to be met.’
It’s believed Inter Milan are not keen on the nature of our offer, preferring a straight €40m that guarantees a sale under ‘simpler’ terms, whether that’s a permanent deal or a loan-to-buy that will guarantee a sale next summer.
As a result, Inter insist that the matter must be sorted quickly and the offer revised if Newcastle wish to bring Sandro Tonali’s international teammate to Tyneside.
