Arsenal Women midfielder Frida Maanum praised her teammates after inspiring a 2-0 victory over West Ham United in a pre-season friendly at Meadow Park on Wednesday night.

The Norwegian international came off the bench at half-time to score both goals, sealing a confident win for the Gunners in their penultimate warm-up match before the start of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League season.

“It’s easy to play with these players,” Maanum toldArsenal.com after the match. “The way we move the ball, the way we find each other, it’s just so natural. I’m really enjoying being out there with this group.”

Maanum’s first goal came from a precise cross by Sophie Harwood, while her second was set up by a delicate clipped pass from Jenna Nighswonger, reflecting Arsenal’s fluid attacking play in the second half.

Manager Renee Slegers made seven changes at the break, including the introductions of Maanum and Beth Mead, injecting energy and creativity after a lacklustre first half in which Arsenal dominated possession but failed to break down a resilient West Ham side.

“Frida brings such energy and quality,” said Slegers. “Her movement and finishing were excellent today, and it’s great to see her thriving with her teammates.”

With key players like Mariona Caldentey rested and Stina Blackstenius sidelined by a minor knock, the match highlighted Arsenal’s depth and adaptability. Victoria Pelova once again impressed in multiple roles, underlining her versatility.

The Gunners will wrap up their preparations this weekend with an intra-squad match at the training ground before turning their attention to a demanding season that includes another push in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“This group is working so hard,” added Maanum. “You can see how much we want to achieve together. It’s exciting for the season ahead.”
