Arsenal are gearing up for a top-of-the-table Premier League clash against defending champions Liverpool on Sunday, in what promises to be an early test of title credentials for both sides.
Mikel Arteta’s side have made a flawless start to the 2025/26 campaign, sitting top of the table after back-to-back wins over Manchester United and newly promoted Leeds United, without conceding a goal. Liverpool, meanwhile, also boast a perfect record but have shown signs of vulnerability, conceding twice in each of their opening victories against Bournemouth and Newcastle before securing late winners.
The stage is set for a high-stakes encounter at Anfield, where both managers will be eager to strike an early psychological blow in the title race.

For Arsenal, much of the spotlight will be on summer signing Viktor Gyokeres, who is working tirelessly to build full match sharpness following a disrupted pre-season. The 27-year-old striker, signed from Sporting CP in a high-profile summer move, missed key preparation time due to minor fitness issues and international commitments with Sweden.

The Swede has already made a strong impression in England, scoring twice on his Premier League home debut against Leeds last weekend. His commitment and work ethic have drawn praise from fans and pundits alike, with one supporter channel describing him as “fired up in second Arsenal training.”
Gyokeres arrives in north London on the back of a sensational 2024/25 season at Sporting, where he netted an incredible 43 goals in 50 appearances to power the Lisbon club to the Primeira Liga title. Capped 22 times for Sweden with 12 international goals, he brings a rare combination of power, pace, and precision that could prove pivotal in Arsenal’s title challenge.
Arteta, who has consistently stressed the importance of hard work and resilience in his squad, is expected to call on every ounce of Gyokeres’ attacking prowess when Arsenal face the intensity of Anfield this weekend. With both teams determined to maintain their perfect start, Sunday’s clash could deliver an early glimpse of the battles to come in this season’s title race.
