Cowboys try to pull fast one on Eagles after Micah Parsons trade (but will fail)

The sports world is still trying to wrap its head around the fact that the Dallas Cowboys traded four-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Dallas thought an aftermath roster move would hurt the Philadelphia Eagles sneakily, but will it hurt Philly?

On Thursday night, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the Cowboys claimed former Eagles offensive lineman Trevor Keegan off waivers. Keegan was recently cut by the Eagles one day after making the 53-man roster.

Dallas’ way less-heralded move Thursday: Cowboys claimed former Eagles guard Trevor Keegan off waivers.

Last year, the Eagles selected Keegan in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Michigan. He showed a lot of promise, despite playing only one game in the regular season. During this preseason and training camp, Keegan struggled as he tried his hand in center and was beaten on multiple occasions in the Eagles' most recent game against the New York Jets.

Eagles fans know what the Cowboys are trying to do, but it won't work

Now that the Cowboys lost their most prized possession on defense, they need to try to pick up any advantage they can on the Eagles' offense. What's better than signing a lineman who has been in that offensive system over the last year plus?

If Dallas thinks that's going to work, they are dreaming. Even when Parsons played last year, the Eagles still managed to pick up wins in both games by a combined score of 75-13, a stat every Philly knows by now, but isn't tired of reading.

Keegan was a nice prospect, and the Eagles would have loved to have had him back on the practice squad this season. There is still a chance Dallas cuts him, and the Eagles can pick him up, but for now, he is with the Cowboys.

The Cowboys are getting a player who didn't have the strongest impact on the Eagles. Not many fans know why they believe this will work, but this is the same franchise that thinks they "could" get Pro Bowlers from Parsons' trade, so Eagles fans will have to see if that changes in the Week 1 matchup in Philadelphia.
