NFL exec has NSFW reaction mocking Cowboys' Micah Parsons trade

The Dallas Cowboys are always going to be in the NFL spotlight. The hope is that the news is mostly good, but owner Jerry Jones has proven over the last few offseasons that he cares more about attention than winning football games, and to him, all press is good press.

While Cowboys fans were sure that his ongoing saga with Micah Parsons this offseason was just more of the same, significant steam started picking up for the superstar EDGE rusher to be dealt. It finally happened on Thursday, as Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers, an NFC rival.

Unfortunately, the details of the trade do not make the move seem much better, as Dallas just got two first-rounders and an aging defensive tackle, Kenny Clark, in return. Clark will turn 30 this season and recorded just 1.0 sack in 2024 while playing all 17 games.

NFC executive minced no words for Cowboys' Micah Parsons blunder

The deal defied logic to most of the NFL landscape, but some had harsher words than others. An anonymous NFC executive reportedly texted NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Thursday evening after the deal went down, and they had an NSFW reaction.

"The Cowboys make no [expletive] sense."

NFC executive after Micah Parsons trade

These are brutal words, especially from an NFL front office member, which makes the whole situation feel even worse for the Cowboys and their fan base. But, in a way, this executive is right, because Dallas' decision to move Parsons at this stage in his career truly has no silver lining.

Parsons is still just 26 years old, and the Cowboys had all the leverage because they could simply franchise tag him for the next two seasons. However, they dealt the superstar for what feels like peanuts in comparison to a player of his magnitude.

To make matters worse, Parsons ends up with a Super Bowl contender in the NFC, which is sure to haunt the Cowboys over the coming years. The team will also have to face Parsons and the Packers in Week 4 at AT&T Stadium.

This may be the last straw for Cowboys fans and Jerry Jones, as they can surely resonate with the anonymous NFC executive who called the team's competence into question. This trade threw off the balance in the NFL a bit, and Dallas got nowhere near the return they should have, which, indeed, makes no sense.
