Trent Alexander-Arnold dropped from England squad after quitting Liverpool for Real Madrid

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been dropped by England coach Thomas Tuchel for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.

The defender, who was not an automatic selection during Gareth Southgate's tenure, was omitted from the 24-man group named on Friday, despite joining Real Madrid this summer.

The ex-Liverpool man, who has only played 26 minutes for England since Tuchel's appointment, was left out in place of Reece James and Djed Spence, with the latter earning his first-ever England call-up.

A reason for Alexander-Arnold's omission was not provided, but Tuchel is likely to provide an update later on Friday.

Elliot Anderson has also received his first England call up, while Marcus Rashford and Adam Wharton have been recalled by Tuchel.
