Man United have yet to lose against a newly promoted side since tasting defeat at Huddersfield Town in the 2017/18 season.
They hope to continue against Burnley this weekend to record their first win of the campaign and ease the pressure on manager Ruben Amorim.
United’s record on opening two league home games
United have lost their first two league home games of the season twice in the Premier League era. The last instance was in the 2020/21 season when they lost to Crystal Palace before suffering a 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. The other occasion was in 2014/15.
A historically attacking fixture
The two sides have met 18 times in the Premier League era, with only two of those fixtures ending in a goalless draw. A total of 39 goals have been scored, 27 of them by United.
The Red Devils’ biggest victory was a 3-0 win in 2009/10, while the Clarets’ best result was in 2018/19 when they triumphed 2-0.
Parker’s persistent struggles against Man United
Manager Scott Parker faced Man United 21 times as a player, was on the losing side on 14 occasions, and did not register any goal involvement against them.
His fortunes have not improved in the dugout either, with his side winless in two attempts against the Red Devils.
Barrott back in charge of United
Referee Samuel Barrot has been appointed to officiate the fixture – his third assignment involving Man United. United won and lost the other in the previous match he was in charge of.
