Travis Kelce Takes Stand for Shedeur Sanders Post-Engagement

Coming off a dreamy fairytale engagement, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is not driving his focus away from advocating on league-wide issues via his podcast alongside his brother, Jason Kelce. The Browns‘ treatment of rookie QB Shedeur Sanders is a growing topic of discussion among NFL pundits.

Rumors have the Browns are trying to sabotage Sanders’ career by not giving him a fair opportunity, like reps with starters, among other things. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has outright denied any discrimination and has instead been vocal about his commitment to Sanders’ development.

Picking his side of the debate, Kelce decided to speak up for Sanders.

Travis Kelce Wants to See Shedeur Sanders Play More

Ever since being all over the headlines after his consecutive Super Bowl wins and for his personal life, Kelce understands what drives the fans and more viewership. He also understands the hype that Sanders has is simply over the top.

“Give the people what they want… The world wants to see him go out there and not only play, but succeed. At this point, guys are rooting for him,” Kelce said.

“This isn’t anything against Dillon; this isn’t anything against Joe. I’m just saying the excitement is there for him to go out and play. He’s going to put eyes on the screen. He’s going to bring people to the game. It is what it is, man. I would love to (expletive) see him.”

With all that said, Stefanski has already made up his mind. Joe Flacco is the starter, Dillon Gabriel is the backup QB, and Sanders is the third-string QB.

Part of it might have to do with Sanders performing poorly in one of the two chances he was given in the preseason. In contrast, Dillon Gabriel played decent enough in his two preseason appearances to convince Stefanski that he is QB2 worthy.

And as for Hall of Fame Deion Sanders’ son, he will most likely stay benched until the wheels start completely coming off the Browns’ offense, or either Flacco or Gabriel gets injured.
