Arsenal agree £23m Kiwior exit as Hincapie deal edges closer

Replacement: Jakub Kiwior is set to leave Arsenal, who are trying to close a deal for Piero Hincapie at Bayer Leverkusen

Arsenal Football Newsletter

Arsenal have agreed a deal with Porto for defender Jakub Kiwior, paving the way for the Gunners to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie.

Kiwior is set to join Porto on loan, but the deal contains an obligation to be made permanent next summer.

Arsenal are set to bank around €27million (£23.4m) from the sale, which represents a profit on what they paid for Kiwior when he joined from Italian side Spezia two years ago.

The deal will not be fully completed until Arsenal have brought in a replacement, which is expected to be Hincapie.

Arsenal are in talks with Leverkusen over a deal for the defender, which would be an initial loan with an obligation to buy next summer.

Hincapie has a release clause in his current contract worth around £52m and that is the fee the Bundesliga club have been holding out for.
