The Man Utd midfielder has asked to leave on loan before deadline day of the summer window.
The 20-year-old held talks with the club on Thursday and made it clear he would like to leave his boyhood club on a temporary deal amid doubts over his playing time. United informed Mainoo they have no intention to sanction his request and have urged him to fight for his place in the starting line up.
Several clubs have already expressed an interest in a possible move for Mainoo before deadline day on Monday, but there is little sense in United sanctioning a loan exit for their academy graduate. United have just four senior central midfielders at their disposal and are adamant Mainoo will get a chance to prove himself in the coming weeks.

Mainoo has yet to feature for United in either of their opening two matches of the Premier League season, but played the entirety of their match as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup against Grimsby in midweek. It remains to be seen whether he will feature against Burnley this weekend, but Amorim is adamant he wants the youngster to remain at Old Trafford.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Amorim was quizzed on the club’s transfer business regarding Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Mainoo. "Until it is official, I can't say much,” he told reporters. “I want Kobbie to stay, he needs to fight for his place, and we need Kobbie. That is not going to change.
“The rest, I don't know how it is going to finish. I understand that the players who are not playing at this moment are disappointed. They will all have the same opportunity to play and you have to fight during the week."
