Three changes after Ait-Nouri update: Predicted Man City XI vs. Brighton

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola could make a trident of changes for Sunday's Premier League trip to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

The Sky Blues are seeking to right the wrongs of their2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, where Guardiola lost new signing Rayan Ait-Nouri to a knee injury in the first half.

However, the left-back has been selected to represent Algeria in their upcoming September fixtures, and the national federation have revealed that Man City intend to use him against the Seagulls this weekend.

Whether Pep Guardiola is prepared to risk Ait-Nouri from the first whistle is another question entirely, as the Catalan coach has two ready-made alternatives in Nathan Ake and Nico O'Reilly waiting in the wings.

Ake was selected to step in for Ait-Nouri last weekend, but O'Reilly could now come into an otherwise unchanged backline of Rico Lewis, John Stones, Ruben Dias and James Trafford.

The latter was culpable for Spurs' second goal last weekend, but with a prospective move for Gianluigi Donnarumma not yet tied up and Ederson potentially leaving still, Trafford ought to start in between the sticks again.

Further forward, Guardiola may now deem Rodri fit enough for a 60-minute run-out from the first whistle, while Bernardo Silva will no doubt be eyeing a recall to the engine room too.

Oscar Bobb could be the one sacrificed to accommodate the returning Silva, as Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Omar Marmoush continue supporting Erling Haaland, who will play his 100th Premier League game on the South Coast.

Manchester City possible starting lineup:

Trafford; Lewis, Stones, Dias, O'Reilly; Rodri; Cherki, Silva, Reijnders, Marmoush; Haaland
