Tottenham are looking to raid Manchester City for several players before the 7pm transfer deadline on Monday.
Spurs have made an approach for Manuel Akanji and are considering Nathan Ake as well.
Before news broke regarding the two defenders, Tottenham have primarily been trying to sign Savinho from Manchester City.
However – as Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday – Manchester City have told Tottenham there is no chance of the Brazil international leaving.
That seemed to be the end of the saga, but a new story from TEAMtalk suggests there could be a late twist involving Savinho.
People inside Tottenham refusing to give up on Savinho deal
Dean Jones now writes that Tottenham chiefs still have hope that the South American can be signed.

It is said there is a suspicion within Hotspur Way that Manchester City are still looking at replacements for Savinho, and there is also a belief that the Brazilian desperately wants to join, which has encouraged Tottenham to keep lines of contact open with the Citizens.
In the meantime, Tottenham are pressing ahead with a £52m move for Xavi Simons – who Manchester City also considered.
However, the Dutchman is viewed as an alternative to Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White after Spurs failed to sign either of the central attacking midfielders, so this deal would not end interest in Savinho.
Progress over Rodrygo deal would boost Tottenham chances of Savinho signing
It feels like the Savinho situation hinges entirely on developments at Real Madrid.
Hugo Viana would only sell the Manchester City No.26 to Tottenham if he can sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid, although a move is expected to cost around £80m and would be difficult to do before the 7pm deadline on Monday.
If Manchester City are given any encouragement that the Real Madrid No.11 can be signed – however – it would be a positive development for Tottenham in their pursuit of Savinho.
