Arsenal’s summer transfer window continues to gather pace, with the club balancing high-profile arrivals and key departures as they reshape Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Gunners have reached an agreement with Porto for the transfer of defender Jakub Kiwior in a deal worth €25 million, potentially rising to €27 million. The move is structured as an initial loan with an obligation to buy, and personal terms are already settled with the 25-year-old Poland international.

Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023 for €20 million, has made 68 appearances but struggled to secure a regular starting role behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. He is eager to make the switch in pursuit of consistent playing time.

The deal, however, is contingent on Arsenal completing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie. The London club remain in advanced negotiations with the Bundesliga champions and are attempting to structure a deal below the Ecuadorian’s €60 million release clause, potentially as a loan with an obligation to buy.

Hincapie, 23, has made clear his preference for a move to Arsenal over Tottenham Hotspur and is viewed by Arteta as a versatile option at both centre-back and left-back.

Meanwhile, midfielder Fábio Vieira could be the next departure, with his potential transfer to VfB Stuttgart gaining momentum following Newcastle United’s record £70 million signing of Nick Woltemade. The German club’s sale of their star striker, with £65 million paid upfront and £5 million in add-ons, has provided Stuttgart with the financial resources to reignite their pursuit of Vieira.

Arsenal signed the Portuguese playmaker from Porto in 2022 for £30 million, but he has struggled to establish himself in north London. After registering two goals and six assists in his debut season, Vieira spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan back at Porto, where he impressed with five goals and six assists in 45 appearances.

Still, with Martin Odegaard firmly established as captain and Ethan Nwaneri pushing for minutes, Vieira has slipped further down the pecking order.

Negotiations between Arsenal and Stuttgart had stalled earlier this summer, with the German side reluctant to meet Arsenal’s £25 million asking price. Stuttgart initially proposed a loan with an obligation to buy for £17 million, but the two clubs remained £8 million apart. Now, buoyed by the funds from Woltemade’s sale, Stuttgart are expected to return with an improved offer closer to £21 million.

Vieira, who has two years left on his Arsenal contract, is open to the move and sees the Bundesliga as a strong platform to revive his career. Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness is also keen to add him as a creative spark in midfield following Woltemade’s departure.

For Arsenal, offloading Vieira would represent another step in their squad-trimming process. Alongside Kiwior’s pending switch to Porto, players such as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Reiss Nelson are also available as the Gunners look to balance the books after investing heavily this summer.

Big-money arrivals including Viktor Gyokeres, Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze have pushed Arsenal’s spending past £260 million, making sales crucial to support further reinforcements such as Hincapie.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, the next few days could see significant movement at the Emirates, as Arsenal aim to finalise Hincapie’s arrival while securing exits for Kiwior, Vieira, and others.
