The Seattle Seahawks were one of eight teams to unveil their new Nike Rivalry uniforms on Thursday ahead of the 2025 NFL season. The Seahawks and those other seven teams all teased these limited alternate threads a few weeks ago while announcing that these uniforms would be worn in select divisional matchups.
The Seahawks will debut their rivalry uniforms on December 18 in a Thursday night matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. The Seahawks will play against each divisional rival at least once while they are wearing their own rivalry alternates. Replica jerseys go on sale on September 10.
The Seahawks are synonymous with eccentric uniforms, being one of the few teams in the NFL to sport a fresh design when Nike took over the branding across the NFL in 2012 and sticking with it all these years later. Still, that doesn’t mean the Seahawks are exempt from sporting a uniform that doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Where the Seattle Seahawks' rivalry uniforms shine (and fall short)
First, let’s talk about what works. The iridescent green on the helmet and numbers flash well while not being as harsh on the eyes as some of the highlighter green Seattle has worn in the past (which I and most Seattle fans like, too).
The shoutouts to the 12s in the uniform are also very nice, especially on the back of the helmet and in the numbers. Few teams have ever worn something in their uniforms that creates a genuine and direct reference to their fans. Maybe the 12s can reach a new decibel level when Seattle hits a big play in these threads, knowing a piece of them was represented on the field.
Honoring the loudest fans in the game.
The innovative design introduces an Iridescent Green helmet and uniform accents, with soundwaves and 12 logos to reflect the noise that reverberates throughout the stadium on gamedays.

But that’s where the good stuff ends. The only team to come with an all-white uniform that hit the mark was the Buffalo Bills, who are now praying for snow on October 5. Seattle’s color uniforms have always been the proof that Nike can go over the top on an NFL uniform and still work, so it’s disappointing that Seattle is stuck with an all white get up.
One aspect that Nike included to shout out to the fans who fill Lumen Field also fell short. The ‘soundwaves’ that are draped across the shoulder and chest of the uniforms, well, they don’t look like soundwaves. They look like blue cheetah print.
Sound is a difficult thing to portray visually without ripping an actual soundwave from Adobe Audition and hoping for the best. Kudos for the effort, but it does not translate well.
There were plenty of fans in the Seahawks mentions Thursday morning poking fun at Seattle for coming out with the most Oregon-esque rivalry uniform, but that may just come down to proximity. There are some similarities in the numbers, but Seattle’s numbers on these alternates stand out and are unique in their own right.
And even if you dislike the soundwave effort like I do, it’s better than some wing feathers around the collar, like many expected.
Still, one of the more disappointing aspects is the lack of green. Why debut an altered logo with green replacing the blues and not use that logo on the helmet? It might be radical, but it ties everything together.
Plus, where green exists in this uniform is where it works the best. Green wouldn’t save those soundwaves, but it certainly seemed that green would play more of a role in the uniforms based on the teasers earlier this summer.
