Reports suggest Ruben Amorim’s time as Manchester United boss is coming to an end, with Zinedine Zidane lined up as the favorite to step in.
Amorim to get sacked ?
Ruben Amorim’s spell at Old Trafford has been rocky from the start. The patience at the club appears to have run out. After finishing in the bottom half of the PL last season and losing the Europa League final to Spurs, the pressure only grew. This campaign has been even worse.
Man United were beaten at home by Arsenal in the opener, stumbled to a draw against Fulham. Then, hit rock bottom when League Two side Grimsby Town knock them out of the Carabao Cup on penalties. Those results have sparked talk that the board has already made up its mind. As per reports in Spain, Amorim’s sacking is considered as just a matter of time.
Zidane the main candidate for United job
Zinedine Zidane has emerged as the standout option to take charge if United make the call. The French legend has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid. His name carries weight and prestige.
Zidane is viewed as the person to give confidence after they have struggled for far too long. United’s board reportedly views him as the man capable of reigniting their push for silverware.
For Amorim, the timing could not be worse. A poor result against Burnley before the international break might be the final nail in his reign. The club spent heavily this summer to give him tools to compete, yet the progress simply hasn’t shown. The reality is simple, results matter, and Zidane’s availability puts even more pressure on the current manager.
Author’s Opinion
Amorim hasn’t lived up to expectations, and United can’t afford another wasted season. Zidane feels like the bold choice fans have been waiting for. But, whether he accepts the challenge is the bigger question.
