Cumbrian goalkeepers feature in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad

CUMBRIAN goalkeepers Dean Henderson and James Trafford have been included in Thomas Tuchel's latest England Squad. 

The shot-stoppers from Whitehaven and Greysouthen respectively have been selected by the England boss to take part in the Three Lions' latest FIFA World Cup European qualifying matches. 

The Cumbrians, as part of Tuchel's 24-man group, will be at Aston Villa's Villa Park for England's clash with Andorra on Saturday, September 6 and will travel to Belgrade to face Serbia on Tuesday, September 9. 

The Three Lions' goalkeeping contingent is rounded out by Everton goalkeeper, and former Carlisle United, Jordan Pickford who spent time on-loan at Brunton Park in 2014. 

Despite the inclusion of two Cumbrian in the latest England senior squad, there is no place for former Blue Jarrad Branthwaite who remains on the side-lines due to a hamstring injury. 

Away from the Cumbrian inclusions, there are first senior call-ups for Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence and Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

There is also a return to the squad for James Trafford's Manchester City teammate John Stones, whist Dean Henderson former Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford and current Crystal Palace colleague Adam Wharton have also earned recalls to the Three Lions squad.

England currently sit in top spot in their qualifying group, having picked up wins over Albania, Latvia and Andorra in Tuchel’s first three games.

The campaign continues into the autumn with the remaining fixtures to follow in the October and November international windows with England looking to secure their place at next summer’s World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.
