21-year-old Barcelona star injured in training, doubtful for Rayo clash

One of the worst possible kind of news for FC Barcelona is getting to know that a player is injured. After all, any amount of time on the sidelines is bad for both the player and the club itself. Unfortunately for Barça, they now have a new injury to deal with.

According to Tot costa, 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Gavi was recently injured during a training session. During the morning session, the player seems to have injured his knee and tests will be conducted both today and tomorrow to determine the extent of the problem.

Not a serious injury as per the update

Fortunately, the update claims that the injury does not seem to be serious for now. Despite the initial scare, the player should not be on the sidelines for very long. However, given his history with a troublesome ACL injury, any problem with that region of his leg is definitely concerning.

Still, he is now considered a doubt for the upcoming La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano. The third league fixture for La Blaugrana this season, it is a chance to win a third straight game after having recently defeated Levante away from home.

Unlikely for the Barcelona gem to play so soon

As for Gavi, his participation in that game now seems to be jeopardised. While the report does not completely rule him out for that fixture, it would be unlikely for the player to return in time if it definitely is an injury and he needs some extra time to recover.
