Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has admitted a move for Jadon Sancho is "a possibility" ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
Sancho remains a United player with just three days to go until the transfer window closes, with club sources conceding there is work to be done to offload the 25-year-old. Having spent last season on loan at Chelsea, Sancho was denied a permanent move to Stamford Bridge after the London club opted to pay a £5million penalty fee not to sign him.
The MEN reported in June that Sancho was prepared to settle for a move to Italy, with Napoli one of the sides to be linked with the 25-year-old.
AS Roma have since emerged as one of the favourites to sign Sancho, yet with deadline day on the horizon he remains a United player.
When asked about Roma's interest in Sancho, head coach Gasperini told reporters (via Sky Italia): "If you have the number, call him! You've written about everything and more. I don't know what the margins are, and you should never beg anyone.
"It's certainly a possibility, but it's also a huge opportunity for them. If you think like this, it becomes an advantage for everyone, otherwise not. If he understands it, it makes sense, otherwise he'll stay where he is."
Sancho moved to Old Trafford from Dortmund in a £72.9m deal in 2021. His last appearance for United came over a year ago when he came off the bench in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City, missing a penalty in the shootout.
United expect at least three players to leave before the transfer window closes. A £40m fee has been agreed with Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho, while loan moves for Antony to Real Betis and Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli are at an advanced stage.
