Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal for this exciting Arsenal youngster.

Crystal Palace and Arsenal are ‘close’ to agreeing another deal between them in these final days of the summer transfer window.

The deadline is now rapidly approaching, with just the weekend left before the final call for signings and sales on Monday.

Palace and Arsenal have already done business this window, seeing Eberechi Eze make the move from Selhurst Park to the Emirates in a £67.5 million switch. The two are now in discussions over another deal but this one will cost significantly less cash and will see the player move in the opposite direction to Eze.

Crystal Palace ‘close’ to deal with Arsenal

According to the News Shopper, Crystal Palace are now ‘close to agreeing’ a compensation package with Arsenal for ‘highly rated attacker’ Dan Casey. The rising star will turn 18 on Sunday and is now in search of a clear pathway to regular first team football. He has rejected the offer of a professional contract with the Gunners, where he has been since pre-academy level.

Casey has attracted attention after an impressive run of form with Arsenal’s U18s. The 17-year-old contributed 20 goals and two assists in 24 appearances at that level last season and he also featured three times for the U21s. He is a versatile attacker who can play in any position across the front three or in the No.10 role, allowing him to adapt to different attacking styles and set-ups while also providing important cover in multiple positions in case of injury.

Crystal Palace reportedly see Casey as a direct replacement for Jesse Derry, who rejected a professional contract at Selhurst Park in order to join Chelsea. The Blues announced the 18-year-old had joined the club last month and had penned a four-year deal through to 2029.

Dan Casey ‘looks up’ to Arsenal star

Earlier this year, Casey spoke to the club’s website about his time climbing the ranks at Arsenal. The attacker revealed that he used to be a Liverpool fan and idolised Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho, but now he ‘looks up’ to Martin Odegaard.

“I’ve had the opportunity to train with the first team, which has been an amazing experience,” Casey said in an interview as part of the Young Gun series.

“There was one moment I’ll never forget. During an 11v11 drill, I played in the pocket alongside Martin Odegaard. I did a nice turn and played a pass out to Raheem Sterling, and afterwards the captain said, ‘Well done’. That was a really special moment for me because he’s someone I really look up to.

“I’ve also taken great inspiration from seeing Ayden Heaven, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, who are in my scholarship group, making their first-team debuts. It’s so inspiring. Myles and Ethan have even been getting minutes in the Premier League and Champions League. It motivates me because if they can do it, so can I.”
