Chelsea approach Brighton to sign Facundo Buonanotte

Chelsea have made contact with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Facundo Buonanotte, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea, having missed out on long-term target Xavi Simons, who agreed on a deal with Tottenham Hotspur earlier today, are looking to add one more attacking player to their ranks.

Buonanotte joined Brighton’s academy in January 2023 from Argentine club Rosario Central.

He made his first team debut for the Seagulls in February of the same year, replacing Tariq Lamptey as a substitute against AFC Bournemouth.

In August 2024, the 20-year-old was sent on loan to fellow Premier League club Leicester City for the 2024/25 season.

He made 31 appearances for the Foxes, scoring five times and providing two assists in the Premier League.

Despite showing signs of brilliance in his loan spell, it was not enough to keep Leicester in the Premier League, as they were relegated down to the Championship.

Dortmund and Leeds United have been linked with the Argentine previously, but Chelsea have also entered the race.

The Blues have also remained interested in Barcelona’s Fermin López, with a deal seemingly unlikely due to Blaugrana’s stance on the attacking midfielder.

They are set to make a decision before the transfer window closes on Monday.
