PSG against Barcelona was the much-anticipated UEFA Champions League final last season, but the Catalans’ inability to hold on to a won tie saw everything change in the final minutes at San Siro.
Inter Milan’s late equaliser and eventual winner in extra-time saw Hansi Flick’s side depart from the UEFA Champions League, and the Italian side take part in the much-awaited finale.
The draw for the league stage of the new edition of the competition, however, has delivered exactly what fans across the globe silently wished for as PSG and Barcelona are set to lock horns in the first phase of the competition.
Needless to say, the excitement could not be higher.
PSG president makes his pick
Speaking to the media in a recent interview, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was asked his preference between Ousmane Dembele and Lamine Yamal and what he thought of the Barcelona superstar.
“Lamine? I like Dembele. I hope people vote well, because we already know who deserves the Ballon d’Or,” he said, unsurprisingly supporting his team’s superstar and prime candidate for the Ballon d’Or.

Dembele does indeed seem the prime candidate to take home the prestigious individual accolade, especially given PSG’s record across all competitions last season and his personal impact on the same.
But Yamal has quickly emerged as the single biggest threat to his throne for the award set to be handed out next month.
Yamal’s magic, week in and week out, and ability to decide games single-handedly at such a young age, have made him a prime contender for the award.
It will be interesting to see if Barcelona’s clash against PSG in the UEFA Champions League takes place before the award ceremony.
