Wolves striker Jorgen Strand-Larsen is set to miss their game with Everton this weekend amid his hopes of sealing a move to Newcastle.

The Magpies have seen two offers rejected by the Molineux club this week, the latest of which was for £55million on Tuesday evening.

Newcastle have since made progress on the £65m arrival of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, but have not given up hope of landing Strand-Larsen.

With Alexander Isak’s British record move to Liverpool now increasingly likely, Newcastle want two strikers in the door before Monday’s deadline.

And, while Wolves insist Strand-Larsen is not for sale and chairman Jeff Shi is adamant any offers will be immediately rebuffed, the Norwegian is thought to have let his club know of his desire to move to the North-East.

Daily Mail Sport understands the 25-year-old is now very unlikely to feature in Saturday’s home fixture against Everton as Newcastle consider a third offer.

Wolves boss Vito Pereira said on Friday afternoon that Strand-Larsen had a ‘small injury problem’ but was ‘hopeful’ he could play.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are still waiting for progress on a move for Yoane Wissa, but have received little encouragement from Brentford in recent days.

However, should the West London club be successful with a £45m approach for Dortmund’s Max Beier, that could unlock Wissa’s move to St James’ Park.

As it stands, both Strand-Larsen and Wissa are live targets for Newcastle.
