Kostas Tsimikas drops out as 23 Liverpool players train for Arsenal

Kostas Tsimikas started the day at the AXA Training Centre before getting the go-ahead to undergo a medical as 23 players continued to prepare for Arsenal‘s visit.

Tsimikas was captured by the club’s cameras on Friday morning at the club’s training facility, enjoying the coffee bar before getting the green light to head to Rome.

The left-back was given permission to travel to undergo his medical after a straight loan deal was agreed with Roma, which will not include an option to buy.

He was initially one of 24 first-team players preparing for Arsenal‘s visit, not that he would have played a role with Arne Slot having overlooked him for Milos Kerkez and Andy Robertson so far.

It leaves Jeremie Frimpong as the club’s only injury absentee, as Alexis Mac Allister is back in training after missing the trip to Newcastle with a fitness complaint.

“Mac Allister started training again,” Slot told reporters on Friday morning, before adding: “I don’t think we had any injury coming out of that game [at Newcastle]. And Virgil is also okay.”

It gives the head coach a decision to make for his XI, with a verdict needed on whether either Mac Allister or Conor Bradley can start – the latter only made his first outing of the season off the bench on Monday.

“I think the positive is that Conor Bradley only had one or two training sessions before the Newcastle game. He has trained this week,” Slot said.

Rio Ngumoha, celebrating his 17th birthday, was involved, as was the club’s latest signing Giovanni Leoni ahead of what could be his first matchday squad appearance at Anfield.

As for the latest at Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are all unavailable, while Martin Odegaard, Christian Norgaard, Leandro Trossard and Ben White are doubts.
