Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis says today is a proud day for everyone associated with the Club as the Reds’ Europa League opponents were confirmed.

Forest will face Real Betis, FC Porto, Ferencváros, FC Midtjylland, Malmö FF, Real Betis, S.C. Braga, SK Sturm Graz and FC Utrecht in what will be our first European campaign in 30 years.

Our owner promised the Club would return to both the Premier League and European competition in 2017, with both achievements met in just eight years of his ownership of the Club.

Speaking after the draw was made in Monaco, our owner spoke of his pride at seeing Forest back in Europe and the excitement at facing Malmö in European competition once more.

“Everyone is happy, everyone is proud. We promised to bring Nottingham Forest back to where it belongs, which was the Premier League and the European competitions.

“Everyone is looking forward to this journey and all our supporters to watch the matches to the City Ground and travel around Europe with the team.

“We hope that we can go all the way because we’re here to compete and to win trophies.

“That is the aspiration, and it is very much something linked to the Club because we have won the European Cup twice.

“History repeats. We played Malmö after 1979 in the final, so it will be a nice occasion. We’ll invite all our legends to be there and the same applies for Malmö. We want them to come to the City Ground and have a great occasion.

“We have a very good squad; you saw last season how they competed and they’re very much looking forward to playing in Europe this season.

“We have some young, ambitious players and we’ll look to compete, work hard and enjoy our victories.”
