Xavi made 78 competitive appearances for Leipzig since first arriving in summer 2023, scoring 22 goals and providing the same number of assists, of which 18 each came across 58 games in the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old’s debut for Die Roten Bullen also brought his only piece of silverware in Germany, starting as Leipzig beat Bayern Munich 3-0 at the Allianz Arena in the 2023 Supercup.

"Xavi arrived as an exceptionally talented player and has since become one of the best attackers in Europe," said Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer.

"His qualities on the pitch made him a key player for us. We would like to thank Xavi for his efforts and wish him all the best for his new challenge at Tottenham."

The Barcelona-trained Netherlands international had originally joined on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain. That deal was extended for the 2024/25 campaign, during which Leipzig signed him on a permanent deal.

An ankle injury in late 2024 meant Xavi missed two months of action, which hampered Leipzig, who struggled without their star playmaker and ultimately missed out on European qualification for the first time in their top-flight history after finishing in seventh place.

Leipzig have been busy this summer revitalising their squad as they start afresh under Ole Werner, signing exciting youngsters Johan Bakayoko, Ezechiel Banzuzi, Yan Diomande, Rômulo and Max Finkgräfe, to replace the likes of Benjamin Šeško and now Xavi.
