Liverpool could be forced into a shock late move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, journalist Matt Law has revealed.
The reigning Premier League champions are still pushing to sign Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak before the transfer deadline on September 1, but if that pursuit stalls again, a surprise switch to Jackson could reportedly materialise.
Chelsea are open to selling the Senegal international in the final days of the summer window, but are reluctant to finalise his departure just yet despite strong interest from Bayern Munich.
While the Bundesliga winners appear to be leading the race for Jackson at present, Chelsea are waiting for further developments in Isak’s transfer saga, which could spark late interest from either Newcastle or even Liverpool.

According to Law, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would make a late move for an alternative target if they cannot sign Isak before the transfer deadline on Monday.
The Anfield side remain focused on landing the Sweden international, having seen their initial £110m bid rejected by Newcastle, who are holding firm on their reported £150m valuation.
Liverpool are expected to return with another offer soon, with the 25-year-old striker pushing for a departure despite holding fresh talks with Newcastle chiefs over a potential return to Eddie Howe’s first-team squad.
Jackson would likely arrive at Liverpool as back-up for Hugo Ekitike, who has started the season strongly with goals in each of his first three appearances under Arne Slot.
The £100,000-per-week Senegal international has no future at Chelsea following the summer arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and is among those expected to leave before the deadline.
Chelsea are also believed to have reached an agreement for Christopher Nkunku’s permanent move to AC Milan and are working on deals to sell Axel Disasi and Tyrique George.
The Blues have already generated around £200m from player sales this summer, with Joao Felix, Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga among the notable departures.
They also remain optimistic about finding a new club for Raheem Sterling, with Crystal Palace among the clubs reportedly eyeing a late move for the England international.
