GARANG KUOL has left [Newcastle United](http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle) and made a permanent move to Czech side Sparta Prague.

The Australian has left Tyneside for an undisclosed fee, having failed to establish in the Magpies' senior ranks.

The 20-year-old joined Newcastle amid much fanfare in January 2023, leaving A-League side Central Coast Mariners shortly after breaking into the senior Australia squad.

He spent the remainder of the 2022-23 season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Hearts, but struggled for game time at Tynecastle.

He then had a season-long loan with Dutch Eredivisie side FC Volendam, before rejoining Newcastle.

The attacking midfielder had a positive spell with Newcastle's Under-21s in the second half of the 2024-25 season, scoring eight times in all competitions as he was shortlisted for a Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

However, that did not lead to an elevation to the senior ranks, and he has opted to swap Newcastle's reserves ranks for the Czech top-flight in Prague.

He will be reunited with former Newcastle Under-21s lead coach Diarmuid O'Carroll, who joined Sparta Prague as a first-team coach earlier this summer.
