Football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has dropped another update – and this time it involves not one, but two West Ham players on the verge of leaving the club.
Earlier today, reports emerged that Marseille had joined Sunderland in the chase for a Hammers central defender. However, Romano has since revealed that it’s Emerson who is closest to a move across the Channel.

Posting on social media, Romano stated: “Understand Emerson Palmieri has agreed personal terms with Olympique Marseille. Negotiations still ongoing between clubs for the left back.”
Loosely translated, this means West Ham still need to agree a transfer fee – which ties in with what Claret & Hugh reported earlier this week. The club will not sanction Emerson’s exit on a free transfer.

Signed from Chelsea following a loan spell at Lyon, Emerson’s West Ham career had its high point when he was named man of the match in the Conference League final win over Fiorentina in Prague. But any hopes the Hammers had of recouping the £13m fee they paid for the Italian international are slim. A nominal transfer fee looks far more likely.
