Tottenham Hotspur are negotiating with Manchester City for Manuel Akanji
With only two days left in the 2025 summer transfer window, it seems that Tottenham Hotspur still have their plate full as they are engaged in several operations to further reinforce their team before the end of the market.
Their efforts have also bore some sweet fruit, as they have completed the signing of the RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons. This signing will reinforce a key area of Thomas Frank’s team, which was left somewhat depleted with Son Heung-Min’s departure and James Maddison’s injury.
Meanwhile, Spurs have also been linked with several Manchester City players in these last days of the market. Their interest in Savinho goes back a significant time, and despite facing hardships in this operation, the Lilywhites seem committed to do their best to land the Brazilian. Furthermore, they were also reported to be interested in the center-back Nathan Ake recently.
In such a scenario, they are now being linked with yet another Manchester City defender, i.e., Manuel Akanji. As per a report from GiveMeSport, the North London side has already opened negotiations for the Swiss center-back, and are looking to land him with a deal around £15 million.

AC Milan also interested in the center-back
Akanji is to be looking for a way out of Manchester City, especially as he has declined significantly in Pep Guardiola’s pecking order. As things stand, he has John Stones, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol, and Abdukodir Khusanov all above in the list of center-backs.
However, despite the player’s intentions to leave his current club, this operation would not really be easy for Spurs. In addition to the limited time left in the transfer market, another aspect that makes this operation somewhat difficult for them is the interest of AC Milan in him, as the Italians are also in talks with City for the defender.
With Cristian Romero and Mikey van de Ven their starting center-backs, Tottenham are looking to add further depth to this area. There is no doubt that Akanji can help them this season, but ideally, the fans would want other options, like Piero Hincapie.
